Nyckelpunkter
  • A man was seriously injured in a stabbing on Vannøya; his cohabitant has been charged with attempted murder.
  • An elderly man was brutally attacked on a bench in Vestfold, leaving him with life-altering injuries.
  • Multiple violent incidents occurred across Norway and Sweden, including shootings, stabbings, and assaults.

The injured man's legal counsel, Silja Eriksen, told NRK Troms og Finnmark that he does not wish to speak to the media, is seriously injured but stable, and it looks like he will be okay. The woman's lawyer, Ken Olav Warth, told NRK that his client was questioned by police on Friday, but due to her condition, they did not go into great detail in the initial questioning. According to Warth, the woman has not taken a position on criminal guilt, appears affected and sad, and has acknowledged that the objective actions took place, including using a knife.

Police have gained an overview of the essential sequence of events inside the address and have questioned several key witnesses, according to Politiinspektør Trude Kvanli. Both the victim and the suspect were injured during the incident but are not in life-threatening condition. The suspect has been released from custody; police believe they have sufficient control over evidence and the risk of repetition is low, with no danger to third parties.

The man and woman are cohabitants and both are admitted to UNN Tromsø hospital. A third person called the police and ambulance and is considered a witness. Police have seized a number of items, including the knife suspected to have been used in the incident, and are guarding the scene until crime scene investigations are complete.

Police used a helicopter to reach Vannøya due to the location, infrequent ferries, and long distances. The mayor of Karlsøy municipality, Mona Benjaminsen, told NRK that the incident is tragic and a crisis team has been set up. In a separate case, an elderly man was attacked without warning while sitting on a bench by the harbor in a Vestfold town on October 14 last year.

He was beaten with his own cane, kicked, and trampled on the head. Witnesses thought the victim would be killed; the attacker was described as having a black stare and being out of control. The attacker also assaulted several other people along the quay before two witnesses stopped him, one armed with a tennis racket, and held him until police arrived.

The victim suffered a brain hemorrhage, a fractured vertebra in the lower back, fractures to the pubic bone and wing bone, and wounds and swelling to the head. He was hospitalized for six days and then transferred to a nursing home for three weeks; he now requires a walker and help with daily tasks. The victim's legal counsel, Jessica Ellingsen, told NRK Vestfold og Telemark that the incident has affected his mental health, he feels his life is ruined, and his quality of life is significantly reduced.

The perpetrator confessed to the violence but remembers little due to being intoxicated on alcohol and pills. He was also convicted for another violent episode from last year and was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison, with time already served in custody deducted; the prosecution had requested three and a half years. He must pay the victim approximately 135,000 kroner in compensation and redress.
