On Wednesday, parents of the 700 students at Solbergaskolan received information about the incident. According to sources, on one of the school's toilets, derogatory comments were written, including the word 'school shooting' together with a date later in March. The specific derogatory comments besides 'school shooting' have not been disclosed.
The school administration takes what happened seriously and the incident has been reported to the police. Police do not assess it as a credible threat, but they will still be present on the date specified, according to Erik Rudstedt, principal of Solbergaskolan. The exact date in March mentioned in the threat has not been made public.
As part of the school's safety work, students have previously practiced lockdown drills. The school has cameras outside, but is now working to install cameras inside the school, Rudstedt said. During the day, extra staff from the student health team are available.
Similar incidents have occurred at other schools in the country, such as in Finspång, and the inspiration seems to come from social media. The identity and motive of the person who wrote the threatening graffiti remain unknown.
