According to major media reports, Viggo Gustafsson left Sweden to play in North America. He recently made his AHL debut with the Milwaukee Admirals, scoring a goal and an assist in a 6-5 loss to the Cleveland Monsters. The Nashville Predators drafted Gustafsson in the third round of the 2024 NHL draft and signed him to his first NHL contract a month ago.
Gustafsson's departure follows a season in Sweden where, according to multiple reports, he played 22 SHL games for HV71 and Timrå. He was loaned to Timrå IK in the SHL and then to AIK in HockeyAllsvenskan during the season, and HV71 announced that he is leaving and will not stay with the club next season. Internationally, Gustafsson played in the World Junior Championships for Sweden two years in a row, winning gold in the USA this winter.
His future plans with the Nashville Predators organization remain unspecified, and the exact date of his AHL debut and timing of his departure from Sweden have not been confirmed.
