Marie Johansson, who has governed the municipality with the Moderates since the last election, is launching her own party list to the full council with herself as the top name. This comes after a proposal for a new full council list to be approved this weekend, seen by SVT, shows she has been removed from first place to fifth. To get support, she sent personal data from the Social Democrats' local membership list to a representative of Kommunal's local branch.
The Kommunal representative then called on joint members to attend the party's local annual meeting on Sunday and vote for Marie Johansson. ' Spreading sensitive information such as party membership can violate GDPR. The incident has been reported to the Integrity Protection Authority.
It is very serious that our member information goes astray.
' Marie Johansson claims it was on Kommunal's initiative that she sent the list, and she should have only sent those who were also Kommunal members. She adds, 'It is a mistake I have made and I must take responsibility for it. ' The nomination committee's chairperson Marie Cnattingius says the committee will have an extra meeting before Sunday's annual meeting to discuss how to handle Marie Johansson's name on the list.
The party district has reported the incident to the Social Democrats' national party board. It is not yet known what specific consequences Marie Johansson will face or whether the Integrity Protection Authority will find a GDPR violation.
