  • The investigation faces criticism as a revenge action and legal challenges, with past cases overturned.
  • A final decision on repayment claims is expected at the municipal board meeting on April 14.

The investigation, which reviewed the years 2019-2025, shows amounts varying from a few thousand kronor to over 220,000 kronor. 1 million SEK too much in fees. 5 years, but politicians decided to extend the review period back to 2019.

The investigation has previously received strong criticism from council members who believe they followed the compensation regulations but that it has now been reinterpreted, and that the investigation is being conducted as a kind of revenge action after the infected conflict within the Moderates. It will be difficult for the municipality to enforce its repayment claims. In 2020, it also emerged that politicians were considered to have received incorrect compensation and would become liable for repayment, but the decision was appealed to the administrative court, which overturned it, partly because it was contrary to the Municipal Act to demand retroactive repayments.

The final decision on how the municipality proceeds with any repayment claims is expected to be made at the municipal board meeting on April 14.
