New Documents Detail Allegations Against Prince Andrew at Epstein Properties

Crime & justiceCrime
Key Points
  • New documents allege Prince Andrew brushed a 17-year-old's chest at Epstein's mansion and received massages from young women.
  • Witnesses describe Prince Andrew's close ties to Epstein and Maxwell, including visits and informal interactions.
  • The FBI investigated emails suggesting Prince Andrew sought young women for sex on a trip.

Caroline Kaufman alleges that Prince Andrew brushed his hand against her chest when she was 17 at a party in Epstein's New York mansion, where she says girls were treated like 'pieces of meat'. According to Kaufman, she was later taken upstairs and raped by Epstein after the party. Her lawsuit states she was recruited by Epstein's associate Susan at age 16 under the pretense of modeling opportunities, and she claims she was photographed naked by an older woman believed to be Ghislaine Maxwell at the mansion.

The Epstein scandal has dogged Prince Andrew for years, culminating in him being stripped of his royal titles and ordered to leave the Royal Lodge on the Crown's Windsor Estate by his brother, King Charles III, last year. Jeffrey Epstein killed himself on August 10, 2019, in New York while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. He was accused of abusing underage girls and reportedly making some of them pleasure several of his rich and powerful friends.

It was in London when (redacted) met a number of friends of mine including Prince Andrew. A photograph was taken as I imagine she wanted to show it to friends and family.

Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend and accomplice

Kaufman's detailed account includes her recruitment and the alleged assault. According to her lawsuit, she was lured with promises of modeling work before being subjected to abuse. She describes the environment at Epstein's mansion as predatory, with young women being exploited for the entertainment of wealthy guests. Her allegations form part of a broader pattern of abuse documented in the newly released files.

Witness accounts reveal Prince Andrew's close relationship with Epstein and Maxwell. Mia, a former Russian model and Epstein victim, said Epstein joked about wanting to 'adopt' Prince Andrew 'into our family'. She described Prince Andrew visiting Epstein's New York mansion in December 2010 and fitting in well, with an informal, family-like atmosphere. Mia noted that women wore sportswear during Prince Andrew's visits but dressed more formally for Bill Gates. Multiple reports indicate Prince Andrew and Epstein were photographed walking in Central Park in December 2010 with women accompanying them, and photos show Prince Andrew on all fours leaning over a young woman in Epstein's dining room.

I have to distance myself from you in statement too. And they need me to say I was not aware of massage (with) andrew in my house.

Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend and accomplice

The FBI investigated Prince Andrew over claims he sought young women for sex on a trip, based on emails with Ghislaine Maxwell, according to an FBI court application. One email from 'Individual-5' to Maxwell asked about finding new inappropriate friends, according to the documents. Another email from 'The Invisible Man' to Maxwell said that as for girls, he left that entirely to Maxwell and Juan Estoban, as noted in the Epstein Files. These communications suggest discussions about procuring women for social engagements.

Virginia Giuffre's allegations are central to the case, with newly released evidence appearing to confirm a key photograph. A newly released email appears to confirm the authenticity of a photograph of Prince Andrew with his arm around the waist of Virginia Giuffre. Prince Andrew has long denied allegations he sexually assaulted Giuffre while she was a teenager and had previously questioned whether the now-infamous photo had been doctored. In the trove of new documents released by the US Justice Department last week is a 2015 email to Epstein purportedly from Ghislaine Maxwell that suggests the image of Andrew and Giuffre is real. The message was headed 'draft statement' and sent by a 'G Maxwell' to the late convicted sex offender in January 2015. Details in the statement and subsequent emails from Epstein the same day indicate the redacted name was Giuffre. Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for child sex trafficking and other crimes, also appears in the photograph. Giuffre repeatedly claimed that she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew while underage on three occasions – in London, New York, and the US Virgin Islands.

Last time I visited his house (the largest private residence in NYC), I walked in to find him in a sweatsuit and a British guy in a suit with suspenders [braces], getting foot massages from two young well-dressed Russian women.

Massage incidents involving Prince Andrew are documented at multiple Epstein properties. According to multiple reports, Prince Andrew was seen inside the New York apartment of Jeffrey Epstein getting a foot massage from a young woman, based on an email exchange between a prominent US literary agent and writer Evgeny Morozov. According to www.theguardian.com, John Brockman described finding Epstein and a British man in suspenders receiving foot massages from two young well-dressed Russian women during a visit to Epstein's Manhattan house. In contrast, Juan Alessi, who managed Epstein's residence in Palm Beach, testified that Prince Andrew stayed in the guest bedroom and had daily massages at the Florida mansion. This disagreement suggests different accounts of where Prince Andrew received massages from young women, potentially indicating multiple incidents or conflicting testimonies about the locations of his interactions with Epstein's associates. Alessi added that the duchess once briefly visited the house, but 'Prince Andrew spent weeks with us', receiving 'daily massages'.

The records paint a disturbing picture of how Epstein procured victims for sexual exploitation. Witnesses describe how people in Epstein's orbit were directed to 'pick up girls' to 'bring back for Jeffrey', according to the documents. Tony Figueroa, a former partner of Virginia Giuffre, testified that Epstein and Maxwell paid $200 (£157) for each girl that went to the mansion. Figueroa said he was paid at age 19 to find and drive teenage girls to Epstein's house, where he often saw other young women. The girls would chat with Maxwell for 10 to 15 minutes in Epstein's kitchen before heading upstairs to provide a 'massage', according to the documents. In his deposition, Figueroa said he often recruited girls from his high school. He did not ask their ages, he said, but assumed they were all between 16 and 19 years old.

Hundreds of pages of legal filings have been unsealed this week under order from a federal court. The testimony appears in around 1,300 pages of evidence released on Friday. The legal papers are part of a 2015 defamation lawsuit by one accuser, Virginia Giuffre, against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's imprisoned former girlfriend. These documents provide new evidence in the case, shedding light on the operations of Epstein's network.

Prince Andrew has denied any wrongdoing over his links to Jeffrey Epstein. He has not been charged with any criminal offence, according to multiple reports. In a 2009 deposition, Juan Alessi told investigators that Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, were 'friends' of Epstein and Maxwell. The duchess is not accused of any wrongdoing and Prince Andrew has denied misconduct. This allegation is not new, and the British royal has long denied any wrongdoing. In 2022, Prince Andrew paid Virginia Giuffre an undisclosed financial settlement to settle her sex assault lawsuit against him, but did so with no admission as to liability.

Prince Andrew did.

The mounting evidence against Prince Andrew raises questions about potential legal consequences. The detailed allegations and witness testimonies could influence future investigations, though no charges have been filed. The scandal has already had significant personal and professional repercussions for the prince, including his removal from royal duties.

Key questions remain about Prince Andrew's involvement, including whether he will face criminal charges related to the allegations. The exact nature and frequency of the massages Prince Andrew received at Epstein's properties are unclear, as are the identities and ages of all the women involved. The full content and context of the emails between Epstein, Maxwell, and Prince Andrew that are referenced in the documents have not been fully disclosed, and the specific evidence linking Prince Andrew to sexual misconduct beyond the allegations and testimonies presented remains to be seen.

He added that the duchess once briefly visited the house, but 'Prince Andrew spent weeks with us', receiving 'daily massages'.
