Luleå Municipality awards an annual entrepreneur scholarship of 15,000 kronor to a business owner in the municipality, with the purpose of highlighting business owners who are good role models for other entrepreneurs and for the entire community. This year's winner is Öhrlunds Åkeri AB, and the scholarship amounts to 15,000 kronor. The winners will be formally honored at the Luleå Business Awards on May 29 along with other award recipients.
Öhrlunds Åkeri AB is a family business that continues to deliver safely, stably, and with a focus on the road ahead. Founded in 1946 by Georg Öhrlund, the company has developed over three generations and celebrated 80 years in January of this year. It is currently run by the third generation of the family – siblings Malin Öhrlund, Peter Öhrlund, and Mikael Öhrlund, with Malin as CEO while Peter and Mikael work as project managers. Their father remains chairman of the board and senior advisor.
Öhrlunds Åkeri has built its business with a focus on quality, specialist knowledge, and long-term customer relationships. The company operates in a large geographical area from Kiruna in the north to Köping in the south and specializes in steel and iron transport, with customers including Sweden's largest steel wholesalers such as Stena Stål. In addition to steel and iron, they transport house modules, scaffolding, other goods, and various special transports, as well as gravel, excavation, soot, and lime.
