According to The Independent - Main, Volodymyr Zelensky described that the focus will shift to the Middle East and the Iranian war, and that Ukraine's air defense could decrease. He has prepared his commanders to cope with the assumed shortfall in defenses, according to multiple reports. The US and its allies are reportedly using hundreds of air defense missiles to defend against Iran's drones and rockets, which may reduce the supply available for Ukraine, according to a single source.
Most anti-missile systems to combat ballistic missiles, like Patriot and THAAD, are made in America, and Zelensky noted that the US will control the number of such missiles. Ukraine produces a vast amount of short-range drone interceptors, which may help compensate for the shortfall. Ukrainian experts are being rushed to the Gulf to advise on air defenses against Iran's drones, according to multiple reports.
The focus will shift to the Middle East, to the Iranian war now and to the United States and also to Israel.
Ukraine has also been in contact with supporters who buy weapons from the US to help defend Ukraine. Zelensky warned of the impact of the Iran war on oil prices, as Tehran has strangled shipping routes. Crude oil prices have surged by almost a fifth since Iran was attacked by Israel and the US.
China buys 48% of Russia's oil, India buys 38%, which could affect Ukraine's war effort.
Our estimation, of course, is that air defense [for Ukraine] could decrease.
They're mostly in the United States, so they produce the air defences and of course they will control this number and they will, I think, try to hold [onto] the package of such missiles. It's understandable.
My team knows about it and they now already have got the message from me that they have to prepare for such challenges.
