A new report from Yale University's Humanitarian Research Lab alleges that Russian state-owned energy companies Gazprom and Rosneft have been involved in the transportation and re-education of Ukrainian children deported from Russian-occupied territories. " The report identifies at least six camps in Russia and occupied territories where Ukrainian children were taken, including facilities owned by Gazprom- and Rosneft-controlled subsidiaries. Researchers say the companies helped through direct ownership of camps, provision of camp vouchers, and coordination of pro-Russia indoctrination programs.

The Yale team notes the findings come as the US administration recently eased some sanctions on Russian oil, including products from Gazprom and Rosneft, in an effort to address energy supply concerns. According to the report, 80% of entities involved in transferring Ukrainian children to Russia have not been sanctioned by Western governments.
