Rounding out the fiction list are Rozie Kelly for 'Kingfisher', Susan Choi for 'Flashlight', and Lily King for 'Heart the Lover'. The Women's Prize for Nonfiction was founded in 2023 to help redress gender imbalance in nonfiction prizes, though some reports indicate it launched in 2024. 5% of winners across seven major UK nonfiction awards over the previous decade were women.

The Women's Prize for Fiction winner will be announced on June 11, receiving £30,000 and a statuette called the 'Bessie'. The Women's Prize for Nonfiction winner also receives £30,000. Thangam Debbonaire chairs the nonfiction judges, while Julia Gillard chairs the fiction judges.
