Women charged in child drug supply and nationwide package cases

Crime & justiceCrime
Key Points
  • A woman in Karlshamn is charged with supplying drugs to three girls aged 12-14, admitting to giving drugs but denying the crime.
  • A Halmstad woman was convicted and sentenced to two years for sending drug packages across Sweden, identified via surveillance and home search evidence.
  • The Halmstad case involved over 500g amphetamine, 130g cannabis, and 2,000 tablets, with the woman citing financial motives and Signal app contact.

In the Karlshamn case, the woman admits to giving the children drugs but denies the crime, according to official sources. The exact relationship between the woman and the children remains unclear beyond being acquaintances, and the current legal status or trial outcome has not been reported.

In Halmstad, the woman was charged with serious narcotics offenses for sending packages containing narcotics during August and September last year from agents in Halmstad and Malmö, multiple reports indicate. The recipients were from several different Swedish cities, involving 22 packages with narcotics. She was identified from surveillance cameras at the agents' locations, wearing a cap, scarf, or sunglasses. During a search of her home, additional narcotics were found, along with zip bags, vacuum bags, gloves with narcotics residue, a scale, and notes.

The woman claims the narcotics in her home were only for personal use. In the initial interrogation, she denied the crime completely but later admitted to posting four to ten packages, unaware of the exact content or amount. According to Hallandsposten, the woman described being in a poor financial situation and accepting an offer from a person contacted via a group on the Signal app to post packages for money. The identity and role of that person are unknown.

The total amount sent was over 500 grams of amphetamine, over 130 grams of cannabis, and over 2,000 narcotics-classified tablets. The prosecutor argues the quantity and scale of the operation constitute serious narcotics offenses.

Halmstad District Court convicted the woman of serious narcotics offenses and minor narcotics offenses for drugs found in her home, sentencing her to two years in prison. During the trial, she admitted to sending all packages except five from a specific agent, but the court found evidence she posted those as well, based on her payment card use at the agent at the same time. The prosecutor alleged the woman packaged the narcotics, which she denied; the court acquitted her of that part of the charge, as it could not be excluded that someone else packaged them. Whether she acted alone or as part of a larger network in the narcotics distribution is not confirmed.

In another development, a woman is accused in a lawsuit of handling large quantities of narcotics, specifically 30 kilograms of cannabis for sale, during last autumn, according to a lawsuit reported by major media. It is unknown whether this lawsuit is connected to the Karlshamn or Halmstad cases, as sources describe different ages and locations for the women involved.
