A woman in her 30s has been arrested in Skåne County, Sweden, on suspicion of multiple sexual offenses against a child, according to TV4 Nyheterna. The suspect, who reportedly has previous convictions for sexual offenses, is accused of committing repeated rapes and sexual assaults against a child under 15 years old during 2023.

Senior prosecutor Marie-Louise Holmberg, who is leading the case, described it as unusual. "It's clearly unusual. Statistically, based on the cases we receive, women are underrepresented as suspects, especially when it comes to sexual crimes," Holmberg stated. The investigation began in 2023 but was initially closed before being reopened in February 2024 after a new report was filed.

The suspect was detained earlier in March on probable cause for rape of a child and sexual abuse of a child. According to the prosecutor, the alleged crimes occurred at multiple locations in Skåne County over approximately half a year. The investigation continues with additional interrogations and examination of phone materials pending.

Defense attorney Anna Gunnarsson Muhr, representing the suspect, stated: "My client denies the crime, otherwise I have no comments." The suspect previously received a conditional sentence and fine of 8,500 kronor for sexually harassing a boy by sending messages with sexual content.
