Police were called to Tamworth Railway Station car park, off Victoria Road, in the early hours of Sunday, March 8 after reports a man had been found unresponsive, according to British Transport Police. Paramedics treated the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene, a British Transport Police spokesperson said. The cause of the man's death has not been determined.

A wider search was launched to locate the suspect, the spokesperson added. A 28-year-old woman was subsequently arrested and remains in custody, the spokesperson confirmed. The relationship between the arrested woman and the deceased man is unknown.

Due to the location, British Transport Police has now taken primacy of the investigation. A scene guard remains in place while police carry out a forensic examination of the scene.
