Of the documented wolves, 34–36 are only in Norway and 21–22 are in border territories. All wolves except one have been documented in counties with wolf zones in southeastern Norway; the exception is a wolf in Jarfjord in Finnmark. Jonas Kindberg, head of Rovdata, said the number of wolves continues to fall, as it has in recent years.
Meanwhile, the Institute of Marine Research (HI) reports that a network of over 100 listening buoys in Sandlandsfjorden in Loppa municipality will record acoustic signals every three minutes for the next two years. Thirty-five halibut are tagged to study how they use the fjord. HI noted that Norway's largest flatfish can grow over three meters long and is an important resource for coastal communities, but little is known about its behavior. Due to the buoys, researchers can determine where the fish are with a precision of 10 meters.
