WhatsApp has launched a new feature designed to help new members of groups more easily join conversations and understand context. Group administrators can now choose to share between 25 and 100 of the most recent messages with new members, allowing them to see what the group is currently discussing. According to WhatsApp, the feature has been requested by users.
All messages remain end-to-end encrypted, and when an administrator shares message history with a new member, all group members are notified. The shared history is displayed differently from regular messages for clarity.
