The board of VME has determined the company requires new leadership, according to Roger Axmon, the new board chairman for Västervik miljö & energi and Västerviks kraft elnät. Axmon stated that the board made a collective assessment that the company needs new leadership and thanked Torbjörn for his time. However, four of nine board members reserved themselves against the decision to replace the CEO.
The board will now begin a process to recruit a new CEO, with Joakim Jansson, currently rescue and security manager, serving as acting CEO in the meantime. Board changes occurred at a municipal council meeting on Thursday, where Robert Axmon was formally elected as board chairman and Tomas Kronståhl was elected to the board. These changes come amid a long-standing dispute between VME and Västervik municipality about IT security, with the municipality's demand for a security protection agreement being a source of disagreement.
Separately, Magnus Jonsson is leaving his position as CEO of Nybro Energi with immediate effect, according to multiple reports. The announcement came barely a week after he was criticized for statements about three employees. Municipal manager Christer Kratz says it is an agreement.
