Växjö veterinarian Filippa Hertzberg is working to establish wildlife rehabilitation services in Kronoberg County, which is reportedly one of only five counties in Sweden that completely lacks such facilities. According to a report from SVT Småland, Hertzberg faces significant challenges including time constraints and financial limitations. "The biggest challenge is that I would need more than 24 hours in a day," said Hertzberg, who works at a veterinary hospital in Växjö.
She emphasized that she cannot start rehabilitation efforts alone and would need to collaborate with others. Wildlife rehabilitation in Sweden is conducted on a voluntary basis without state or regional support, with approximately 40 such facilities currently operating nationwide. These facilities require permits from county administrative boards and receive animals from landowners or police.

KFV's Riksförbund provides basic courses for prospective rehabilitators. The other counties reportedly lacking wildlife rehabilitation services are Halland, Jönköping, Södermanland, and Västmanland.
