Vemdalen and Strömsund open new multi-halls for local activity
Key Points
  • Vemdalen project initiated by mountain business association for accessible multi-hall
  • Collaboration and financing involve municipality, business community, and entrepreneur
  • Strömsund hall completed in six months with features like golf simulator

The Vemdalen mountain business association initiated the idea of building an activity hall in Vemdalen several years ago, with the goal of creating a multi-hall that would be easily accessible for residents in the entire surrounding area. The project aims to benefit municipal citizens and be self-sustaining. The construction developed into a collaboration between the business association, the business community, and Härjedalen municipality.

Härjedalen municipality invested 16 million kronor in the activity hall, while the business association received support from the region and rural funds totaling 6 million kronor. The remaining financing comes from entrepreneur Gunnar Forss, who is also the largest part-owner of the hall, with the Vemdalen mountain business association holding a smaller ownership share. The multi-hall in Strömsund is now ready after an efficient construction that took approximately half a year, and it has been open for just over a week.

The hall in Strömsund includes a new golf simulator. The Vemdalen project includes several commercial parts built in different stages.
