The water situation in Gotland, Sweden, has stabilized somewhat after a sharp call to conserve water on Wednesday. Region Gotland reported that the risk of tap water running out in Visby and surrounding areas within three days has been averted, and no boil water recommendation is currently needed if current consumption levels are maintained. Both households and businesses have reduced their water usage, and drinking water production is at maximum capacity without affecting water quality.
To relieve the regular production, reserve water has been supplied to the hospital. However, individuals and businesses are urged to continue conserving drinking water, as low water levels could lead to paused maintenance measures like flushing pipelines and cleaning reservoirs, potentially impacting water quality.
