Västra Götalandsregionen (VGR) has decided to build a new regional headquarters in Vänersborg, Sweden, and intends to award the contract to Peab Bostad AB. The move to the new office will occur by 2030 and will affect about 400 employees from nine different administrations within VGR. The new office will replace facilities at five addresses in Vänersborg and one in Uddevalla, reducing VGR's rented space in Vänersborg by approximately 7,000 square meters.
According to Ior Berglund, director of Fastighet, stöd och service, the current regional headquarters is not adapted to today's work methods and requires extensive renovations. The decision follows a procurement process that was reviewed and discontinued in spring 2023. All landlords within a 15-minute walk from the travel center were given the opportunity to submit bids, with VGR receiving four bids in total.

A contract lock applies for at least 10 days to allow other suppliers to appeal. If no appeal is submitted, VGR and Peab Bostad AB can sign a contract in early March, after which a timeline will be developed.
