The Västra Götalandsregionen in Sweden is offering grants to increase voter turnout ahead of elections on September 13, 2026. The region's kulturnämnden is providing a total of 1 million kronor for initiatives targeting groups with lower-than-average voter participation. Folk high schools, study associations, and civil society organizations can apply for up to 200,000 kronor per project, with decisions made on a rolling basis until funds run out.
Additionally, the region is funding the 'Unga demokratiambassadörer' project, allocating 500,000 kronor to seven public libraries to hire young people as democracy ambassadors to inform youth about voting.
