The proportion of active athletes varies greatly depending on location, both among girls and boys, according to official sources. RF-SISU makes targeted efforts towards key clubs in these areas to strengthen them in attracting and retaining more active members and leaders. One of these clubs is located in Östra Ersboda.
The club received funding for a restart and, among other things, was able to hire association developer Lovisa Laestander for a three-year period starting in 2023. Laestander has actively recruited members to the club, including by going out and talking at schools and with parents. Previously, the proportion of active girls in Östra Ersboda was only 24 percent; now it is up to 31 percent, according to official sources.
For Ersboda SK, the number of girls has increased from 131 in 2023 to 181 in 2026. In addition to gaining more members, they have also gained a total of 60 new leaders. According to SVT Västerbotten, Lovisa Laestander described that they have several age groups with girls playing now, and both the number of members and leaders has increased a lot.
She also noted that it is not enough to send out emails about needing coaches; it is important to meet physically and talk about the activities. The specific funding amount for the club's restart and the exact criteria for RF-SISU's targeted efforts remain unknown, as do the most popular sports among girls in Östra Ersboda and challenges in further increasing female participation.
