A 35-year-old man from Västerås has been sentenced to six years in prison for repeatedly and violently abusing his partner in what the court described as "completely senseless and torture-like" violence. According to Västmanlands District Court, the man committed several serious crimes against the woman and their shared children.

The abuse was interrupted when one of the children alerted police on Christmas Day 2025. On the evening before police arrived at the villa, the man had tied up the woman, taped her mouth shut, whipped her feet with a water hose, and struck her head with a crutch. Following the abuse, the woman had approximately 70 injuries on her body.

While the man admitted to hitting the woman, he claimed he acted in self-defense against her attacks on him. However, the investigation did not support his claim of self-defense.

In addition to the prison sentence, the man must pay damages totaling around half a million kronor to his partner and their children. The court determined that no penalty other than imprisonment was appropriate given the severity of the crimes.
