Västblekinge Miljö AB (VMAB) is facing significant customer criticism over recent changes to waste collection services in the region. According to reports, the new waste sorting system has been met with harsh criticism from customers, particularly regarding the emptying intervals and bin allocation for residual waste.
The company's board has responded by deciding to investigate the waste sorting system. Bengt-Åke Karlsson (M), first vice chairman of VMAB, stated that the company is listening to its customers. "VMAB listens to its customers," Karlsson said, expressing hope that the waste company can solve the problems that may arise with the waste sorting.

Despite the criticism, no immediate changes will be made to the waste bins. Malin Håkansson, department head of cleaning services at VMAB, noted that "change always affects people" and explained that an evaluation will be conducted once the changes are fully implemented. The company maintains that the changes are being made for both economic and environmental reasons.
The board has also instructed staff to investigate possibilities for compensatory measures for customers who need larger bins or more frequent emptying. This could include exchanging 45-liter containers for metal packaging for smaller ones to create more space for other fractions in the bin.
