Vanessa Kamga is competing in the indoor Swedish championships in Sätra, Sweden. She is entered in shot put and weight throw, an indoor variant of hammer throw. Kamga lives in Falun and varies her discus training between throwing against a wall and throwing outdoors in the snow during the winter season.
She says throwing in the snow builds strength and that Sweden's varied weather makes athletes tough. Kamga was inspired by Daniel Ståhl's performance in the World Championship final this summer. She started discus at age 16 after trying other sports like basketball.
