Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson was benched by coach Adam Foote during a 5-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken. Pettersson reportedly had his ice time drastically reduced, playing only three shifts in the third period and a total of 14:20 minutes, his second-lowest of the season. According to reports, Foote stated the decision was performance-based, saying Pettersson needs to be better.
Pettersson, who has 13 goals and 22 assists in 51 games this season, reportedly acknowledged he must improve. The Canucks' next game is against the Dallas Stars.
Pettersson needs to be better.
I must improve, respecting the coach's decision.
