Stockholm is experiencing a dramatic resurgence of bed bug infestations, with pest control company Anticimex reporting a 40 percent increase compared to last year. According to Thomas Persson Vinnersten, a pest control expert cited by TV4 Nyheterna, the insects are particularly proliferating in the Stockholm area after years of declining problems. The expert warned that finding traces of bed bugs means 'it's danger and trouble,' and that the pests take six to eight weeks to eliminate completely.

Vinnersten attributed the increase to Stockholm's dense population, record hotel stays, and high levels of travel in and out of the city. Bed bugs leave small black spots on bedding and can be found in seams and zippers, according to the expert. He noted that the insects reproduce quickly and can become numerous within just a couple of months if not properly addressed.

Contrary to common belief, bed bugs can infest any environment regardless of cleanliness, including luxury hotels. Experts recommend travelers inspect hotel beds carefully and wash clothing at 60 degrees Celsius upon returning home to prevent spreading infestations.
