The World Poetry Day event occurred on March 22 at the Reginateatern in Uppsala in connection with the final of the competition Poetry Without Borders, according to official sources. The stage was filled with young voices, and students from Von Bahr school contributed the most poems, as reported by officials. The poems were performed in an impressive breadth of languages: Arabic, Bosnian, Kurdish, Somali, Russian, Spanish, Tigrinya, German, and Ukrainian, according to official accounts.

A total of fifteen brave students from the school participated, sharing their thoughts and feelings with pride and presence before the audience. Von Bahr school is a writing school, evident from its participation. This year, Von Bahr school participated for the first time in the national competition Sustainable Poetry, officials said.

Last year, the school's work was noticed by the Swedish National Agency for Education, with students selected to be interviewed as part of the European Language Label award. Tiundaskolan in Uppsala started early on March 20, with students from grades 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9 contributing poems that they put up in the school's surroundings in a poetry walk, according to official sources. Several students at Tiundaskolan have also participated in Sustainable Poetry, a poetry competition where students write poems for a sustainable future based on the 17 global goals.

This year's theme for Sustainable Poetry is Love for Sustainable Development, officials reported. The public is welcome to view the students' poems posted around Tiundaskolan, in Giraffparken, and in the display windows of Handelsbanken, Café Lejon, Trappan, and Svenska mäklarhuset, as well as in Coop Konsum's entrance along Ringgatan. World Poetry Day falls on March 21 each year and was established in 1999 by UNESCO, with the purpose of the theme day being to encourage reading, writing, teaching about, and publishing poetry, according to official sources.

The concept of sustainable poetry walks started in Trelleborg in 2019 in connection with Trelleborg's first poetry festival and has since spread to various municipalities in the country. The concept has also spread to schools in Europe. In connection with World Poetry Day on March 21, 2025, poetry walks will be arranged in various locations.
