The municipality said the name 'Uppsala Tillsammans' was selected by over 80 people in a public vote. 'It is very fun that so many have participated in voting for the name,' said Inana Selenius, a leisure leader at Grand. 'Uppsala Tillsammans captures what we want to create, a festival where we do this together and where more people can be included.'
As part of the festival, an open stage event will be held on May 28 at 18:00 at Kulturhuset Grand, where participants can showcase talents such as music, dance, or poetry. 'We want more people to dare to take the stage and feel that this is their arena,' said Gülperi Saritas, an operations developer. It is unclear whether there will be other activities or any costs to participate.
Culture and the opportunity to express oneself is a right. With Uppsala Tillsammans, we want to create more contexts where that right becomes reality and where more people can take place on their own terms.
In addition, four free senior festivals will take place in May in Järlåsa, Knutby, Ramstalund, and Björklinge. The events require no pre-registration and include coffee and buns. Attendance numbers have not been disclosed.

We want more people to dare to take the stage and feel that this is their arena. The open stage is a first step in building Uppsala Tillsammans.
