Oksana Tymoshchuk and her family fled their home in western Ukraine days after the full-scale invasion began. Four years later, they have built a life in Lund, Sweden. Tymoshchuk was a professor of medicine at a university in Ivano-Frankivsk when the invasion broke out.
She decided to leave the country after seeing an airport destroyed through her son's bedroom window. After a stop in Italy, the family arrived in Lund, where the first period was difficult. Now, both she and her husband have jobs, and their children are thriving and have learned Swedish.
Despite these successes, Tymoshchuk still longs for her homeland daily but is unsure if it would be right for the children to move back even if the war ends.
