Finbar Sullivan, 21, was fatally stabbed on Primrose Hill in London on Tuesday after a fight broke out at the summit. He had just bought a new Sony camera with his birthday money and was testing it on Primrose Hill. Finbar Sullivan's friend AJ was also stabbed, possibly while trying to protect him. Police were called to Primrose Hill at around 6:40pm on Tuesday after reports of a fight. A second man in his 20s was found with knife wounds on Regent's Park Road near Primrose Hill and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made in the Primrose Hill stabbing case. Police are urging a woman who recorded the Primrose Hill fight to come forward as a key witness. Footage of the Primrose Hill fight circulated on social media, showing groups of men fighting and a youth pulling out a knife.
Finbar Sullivan's grandfather is cinematographer Michael Seresin, who worked on films like Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
In a separate incident, Aurelio Mejía, 26, was stabbed to death outside a nightclub in Ruby Street, Peckham, in the early hours of Monday. Four men, one aged 18 and three aged 24, were arrested on suspicion of murder in the Ruby Street case. Two other men in their 20s were injured in the Ruby Street incident and are in life-threatening condition in hospital.
James Blanch, 41, was killed in an attack outside MyBar in Bournemouth on Monday at around 3am. Five men were arrested in connection with the Bournemouth attack, with one released under investigation and others in custody.
A man in his late 20s or early 30s was killed in a stabbing in Watney Street, Shadwell, east London, on Tuesday afternoon. A second man in his 50s was injured in the Shadwell stabbing and is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In Leicester, a 62-year-old man was found unconscious in Beaumont Leys Park and later died, leading to a murder arrest of a 33-year-old man.
In Birmingham, a teenager has been sentenced to a minimum term of 13 years for murdering a 12-year-old boy. Leo Ross, 12, was stabbed in the stomach on 21 January 2025 while planning to meet a friend in a Birmingham park. The perpetrator was 14 at the time of the murder and pleaded guilty to murder and other offences. He asked a passer-by to call the police after the attack, claiming he found Leo there, and lied to officers at the scene. Leo is believed to be the youngest victim of knife crime in the West Midlands.
The perpetrator stabbed Leo and discarded the knife in bushes by a stream, where it was later recovered. The defendant was described as a young man with formidable mental health problems but aware of his actions' consequences.
In a recent related incident, a 12-year-old boy was stabbed to death as he walked home in Birmingham. The boy was found with serious injuries near Scribers Lane in Hall Green shortly after 3pm on Tuesday and died in hospital. A boy aged 14 has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Christ Church, Church of England Secondary Academy in Yardley Wood shared a statement of condolences. Police cordoned off entrances to Shire Country Park, and residents expressed shock. A resident reported a member of the public asked for a postcode to assist emergency services after the incident.
Some areas of the park near Trittiford Mill pool have had past anti-social behavior involving youths. Police are asking for information via the major incident public portal or phone, quoting log 3324 of January 21. Detective Inspector Joe Davenport said police are reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses. The boy's family have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
The stabbing occurred on the day MPs were told a ban on knife sales to under-18s has not proved effective. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper revealed Southport killer Axel Rudakubana easily ordered a knife on Amazon at age 17.
