German actor Mario Adorf has died at the age of 95, according to the Austrian news agency APA, as reported by Swedish newspapers Kristianstadsbladet and Sydsvenskan. He was reportedly born in Zurich, where he began his acting career at a student theater. Adorf appeared in the Oscar-winning film adaptation of Günter Grass's novel "The Tin Drum" in the 1970s and played the role of Commissioner Beizmenne in "The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum," based on Heinrich Böll's novel of the same name.
According to Der Spiegel, he became one of Germany's most popular actors.
