Beshar-Jamal Al Housaini, a physical education teacher at Gärdsåsskolan in northeastern Gothenburg, is one of the two teachers admitted this year. He has worked at the school for three years and said his research interest in a more equitable school grew from his interactions with students. His research will focus on how physical education can promote inclusion, health, and social development.
According to Beshar-Jamal, he wants to investigate how teaching can be designed to strengthen students' motivation, participation, and future prospects in socioeconomically disadvantaged environments. The goal is for the research to contribute to school development in Gothenburg, and the education leads to either a licentiate or doctoral degree.
