According to Expressen, the Sweden Democrats broke party discipline yesterday when two former members, Elsa Widding and Katja Nyberg, voted against the Tidö parties on transitional rules. SD group leader Linda Lindberg called them 'attention-seeking wild cards.'
In response, Elsa Widding laughed at Lindberg's comment, and according to Expressen, she said it speaks for itself who the real wild card is, accusing Lindberg of wanting a dictatorial parliament. She told SVT Nyheter that the vote was an election stunt for SD to show they are saving Sweden from a fabricated migration catastrophe. She also said the large number of SD MPs is unnecessary, implying only party leader Jimmie Åkesson is needed to push the button.
It speaks for itself who is the wild card in these contexts. She stands for a parliamentary dictatorship. It's true that in all parties you vote with the party line, but the Sweden Democrats are very rabid. The big question is: why are there so many of them? Isn't it enough that Åkesson comes there and pushes the button? Linda Lindberg is the real wild card. She thinks parliament should be completely undemocratic.
Widding stated that she and Nyberg consider the proposed law legally unsafe and poorly thought out, particularly regarding transitional rules. Widding said she left SD because she felt she couldn't think for herself and that Nyberg was treated inhumanely. Widding has said that neither she nor Nyberg will promise to always vote with SD, a situation that makes the Tidö majority fragile.
Widding also voiced criticism of nuclear weapons on Swedish soil and the foreign minister's readiness to do anything. Both Widding and Nyberg have denied any agreement with Green Party MP Annika Hirvonen regarding the vote. However, Hirvonen did contact Widding before the vote, according to the parties involved.
This is an election stunt for SD. They want to show that they are saving Sweden from a fabricated migration catastrophe.
If you think for yourself, you get smeared or thrown under the bus. They have treated Katja Nyberg completely inhumanely. You don't treat people that way. And then they expect loyalty.
That means the leadership can treat its members like some kind of subjects and then still expect them to vote with the party.
They have no idea what they are doing, it's catastrophic. I am also looking very closely at foreign policy; we have a foreign minister who is ready to do almost anything.
I will vote based on my own head. I cannot answer how I will vote on whether 13-year-olds can be sentenced to prison.
She is the biggest wild card of them all.
