The municipalities of Vilhelmina and Dorotea in northern Sweden have reportedly been targeted by a cyberattack, according to local media reports. The attack has disrupted municipal services in both communities. Dorotea municipality has activated its crisis management team in response to the incident.
On its website, the municipality stated it is working to find temporary solutions to maintain municipal operations. In Vilhelmina, the municipal website, e-services, and switchboard are currently non-functional. While Vilhelmina's city network is currently operational, broadband services are expected to gradually cease functioning throughout the day as a result of the attack.
The municipality has assembled an incident team to address the situation, though there is currently no estimate for when systems will be fully restored.
