The incident is being investigated as illness-related, and Skistar has activated crisis support for its staff following the fatality.

In a separate incident on Saturday, a woman in her 60s was injured in a collision with a dog sled near Hållfjället, south of Åre. According to police reports, eight dogs were involved in the dog team that collided with the woman. During the incident, the woman reportedly had the dogs on top of her and they 'nipped and bit' at her. Despite the driver's attempts to intervene, the woman required medical attention and received two stitches in her hand.

The dog sled incident is being investigated as causing bodily injury and will be examined by both prosecutors and the county administrative board since animals were involved. Interviews with those involved will be conducted to determine if anyone can be held responsible for the accident.
