Two Mexican ships carrying humanitarian aid to Cuba have reportedly gone missing, according to Mexican authorities. The vessels, which were transporting food and other supplies, were expected to arrive in Havana between Tuesday and Wednesday but have failed to make contact or confirm their arrival.
The Mexican navy has stated that it has been unable to communicate with the ships and has received no confirmation from Cuba that they reached their destination. A total of nine crew members of various nationalities were reportedly on board the two vessels when they departed from Mexico.
The ships were part of a larger effort to deliver aid to Cuba, which is reportedly facing a humanitarian crisis and has been subjected to an oil blockade by the United States. Multiple vessels have left Mexican ports in recent weeks with the aim of transporting essential supplies to the island nation.
Mexican authorities continue to investigate the disappearance of the two aid ships and their nine crew members.
