Varberg District Court has sentenced two men to life imprisonment for the murder of a 22-year-old man whose body was found in a forest area outside Ullared, Sweden. According to SVT Halland, the victim was murdered on New Year's Eve 2023 and lay dead in the forest for four weeks before being discovered.
The two convicted men, both in their 30s, were originally arrested in February 2024 along with three other individuals suspected of gross protection of a criminal. All five were from the Malmö area and were released in May 2024. However, new information led to the two main suspects being arrested again by Varberg District Court on probable cause for murder. The suspicions against the three other individuals were dropped.
The court's sentencing marks the conclusion of a case that began with the discovery of the victim's body in early 2024 and involved multiple arrests and releases before the final conviction.
