Two men in their 35s have been charged with aggravated assault and robbery following a brutal attack on a 27-year-old man in a stairwell in Luleå, Sweden. According to reports from local media, the assault occurred in the early morning hours of March 17, 2026, in a residential building in central Luleå. Neighbors reportedly alerted police after hearing loud noises and commotion in the stairwell.
When officers arrived around 6:30 AM, they found the victim severely injured and bleeding in the basement stairwell. Witnesses described how the two assailants allegedly used both a knife and a broken glass bottle during the attack. The victim was reportedly beaten, stabbed, and kicked until he lost consciousness.
The attackers also allegedly tore off his pants and threatened to rape him with a hammer. Both suspects were arrested at the scene and are known to police from previous violent crimes. The case is being handled by local authorities in Norrbotten County.
