Swedish TV host Anders Lundin contracted dengue fever during the filming of the reality show "Robinson" in Caramoan, Philippines, according to a report from Sydsvenskan. The illness occurred during the first days of filming for season 18 of the popular survival program. Lundin, who was vaccinated against the mosquito-borne disease, was forced to temporarily hand over hosting duties to colleague Martin Järborg, who flew to the Philippines on short notice to take over.
In a statement to TV4, Lundin said: "Had I been able to decide, I probably would have pushed through more. But that fever, it's special. " The TV host has since fully recovered from the illness.
Had I been able to decide, I probably would have pushed through more. But that fever, it's special. I should probably be grateful that I was taken aside.
Dengue fever is a viral disease spread by mosquitoes that causes high fever, headache, and muscle pain, and can become life-threatening in rare cases. Season 18 of "Robinson" is scheduled to premiere on April 6.
