The ban was agreed between Tromsø municipality and the rental company Ryde, according to officials. In Zone 1, the inner city core marked in purple on the map, scooter use is not allowed. In Zone 2, within the red lines, speed is limited to walking pace, the municipality stated.
The exact boundaries of the zones and penalties for violations have not been disclosed. It is unclear whether other rental companies are affected.
