Tromsø Airport Sets Passenger Record in February 2025

Multiple reports indicate that February this year was a record month for Tromsø Airport, with more than 316,000 passengers either arriving or departing by plane. According to Avinor, from January to March this year, Tromsø Airport had an 11 percent passenger growth compared to the same period in 2025, the largest growth in the country for that period. Foreign traffic during March has been large, and departures to and from abroad have particularly driven passenger growth.

According to NRK Sápmi, Simen Ristan Frantzen described that companies are coming to Tromsø with larger planes and selling more seats, and he assumes that summer traffic will also be able to increase. Tromsø's overall growth leadership is supported by these factors, with Frantzen noting Tromsø as an attractive travel destination with great interest in the region. Bardufoss Airport has also had good growth, with Nye Troms reporting that so far this year, Bardufoss Airport has had more travelers than in the last ten years.

According to NRK Troms og Finnmark, Martin Nymo described that people have been drawn here because of the problems in Tromsø, among other things, and he knows that travelers from Lyngen have come for that reason. Bergen Airport Flesland had a passenger growth of nearly 6 percent in March, making it the growth winner among the largest airports in the country.

Over 541,000 passengers traveled via Flesland last month, with foreign travel driving development through an increase of over 13 percent compared to March last year.
