In the HockeyAllsvenskan playoffs, AIK defeated MoDo 6-2, reducing the series to 2-3. Three MoDo players have been reported to the disciplinary committee. Emil Larsson received a match penalty for elbowing AIK forward Sid Boije in the head at the end of the first period, an infraction that also included a roughing penalty, resulting in a seven-minute power play for AIK.
The disciplinary committee stated that Larsson came in at high speed, jumped into the tackle, and hit the head, posing a significant injury risk. According to Aftonbladet, Boije's teammate Alfred Barklund said after the match that he trusts the referees and Players Safety Group to review it and take sensible measures. Additionally, August Berg and Oscar Pettersson have been reported for diving/embellishment in two separate incidents.
I trust the referees and Players Safety Group to review it and take sensible measures.
The disciplinary committee noted that Berg threw himself and grabbed his mouth as if hit by a stick, tricking the referees into calling a penalty on an AIK player, and that Pettersson fell to the ice and rolled in the opposite direction from what would be expected if hit on the right side. Game six of the best-of-seven series will be played at Hovet in Stockholm on Thursday. According to Hockeysverige, Boije, a 19-year-old talent, was taken to the hospital after the hit by Larsson, and Larsson could be suspended for the head tackle.
MoDo has lost two consecutive matches after a strong start to the series.
