Tre Kronor head coach Sam Hallam has announced the squad for the upcoming Fortuna Hockey Games and Beijer Hockey Games, including six players who participated in the World Junior Championship (JVM). According to multiple reports, the squad also features ten debutants: Nils Höglander, Theodor Niederbach, Karl Henriksson, Liam Öhgren, Viggo Björck, Love Härenstam, Sascha Boumedienne, Jack Berglund, Anton Frondell, and Ivar Stenberg. Jörgen Jönsson will serve as an assistant coach for Tre Kronor, a role that Hallam praised. "It's so damn fun, for me personally to get to work with Jörgen. He is a person I trust, and he trusts me," Hallam said during a press conference.
The Tre Kronor squad for the Fortuna Hockey Games includes goaltenders Magnus Hellberg and Love Härenstam, defensemen Jacob Larsson, Robert Hägg, Erik Brännström, Axel Andersson, Tim Heed, Sascha Boumedienne, and Joel Persson, as well as a list of forwards that has not been fully disclosed. Hallam highlighted the inclusion of young players like Viggo Björck, saying, "He is perhaps the smartest player. Incredibly impressive to follow whether he plays in U20 or with Djurgården in the SHL. Great to see Viggo." Regarding the potential for younger players to make the World Championship roster, Hallam noted, "Then the hockey World Championship is a bit special. If you are at this age, you have no respect. They are often that last spice that does really well. Then we'll see how many make it all the way."
It always feels a bit special when it's the last camp of the season.
In parallel, the Team 17 men's national team will have its final training camp together before moving up to the U18 level, according to multiple reports. Three debutants have been added to the squad for this camp: Elvis Langvardt, Rasmus Sahlman, and Adam Annborn. The team will travel to Seinäjoki, Finland from April 16-19 for a five-nation tournament. Head coach Thomas Paananen commented on the significance of the camp, saying, "It always feels a bit special when it's the last camp of the season." The full schedule of the tournament has not been released, and it remains unclear which players from the Team 17 squad are underage and making their debut. Additionally, it is not yet known whether any NHL players will be added to Tre Kronor for the World Championship.
