Three people died when the boat they were traveling in was swept away at Kilforsen in Näsåker, Sweden, also known as Spegeldammen. Four people were in the boat. The deceased were a young boy in his early teens, a man in his 30s, and a man in his 40s.
One man survived. The energy company Vattenfall started its own investigation after the fatal accident, and the investigation has recently been completed. According to the investigation, the company has not made any errors but will still work on improvements together with the industry at large.
Residents are constantly reminded of the tragedy and think Vattenfall could have acted differently. They say Vattenfall had stated that some form of meeting would be held after the accident, but they have not heard anything yet. The signage that Vattenfall put up is old, overgrown, and always only in Swedish.
Residents suggest information in more languages and possibly a QR code, as there are people who visit the area who do not even know it is a regulated river.
