Thousands of people are currently unable to take their driving theory tests due to a major system outage at Transportstyrelsen, Sweden's transport agency. According to Trafikverket, which confirmed the situation to SVT, the data systems have been down since Thursday afternoon, causing widespread disruptions to transportation services.
Mikael Andersson, press chief at Transportstyrelsen, described the situation as having "significant consequences overall." He stated, "You cannot make vehicle ownership changes, deregister or register vehicles. These are quite extensive disruptions."

The problems reportedly began on Thursday afternoon, and according to Transportstyrelsen, work to resolve the issues has been ongoing through the night into Friday. While the cause of the problems remains unclear at present, the agency has ruled out a potential hacker attack.
"That is not the case, we can say that with certainty," Andersson told SVT regarding the possibility of a cyberattack. The outage affects multiple critical services including vehicle registration and driving test administration, impacting thousands of individuals across Sweden.
