Key Points
  • Trafikverket warns of life-danger from trespassing in fenced construction tunnels under Uppsala's railway.
  • Signs of unauthorized entry through broken fences are seen almost weekly at two sites in central Uppsala.
  • No accidents have occurred yet, but the site has sharp hazards and is not for public access.

Trafikverket is warning against trespassing in two new, fully fenced-off tunnels being built under the railway in central Uppsala. The authority says it sees signs almost every week that unauthorized individuals have broken through fences at the construction sites for new grade-separated crossings under the railway at S:t Persgatan and S:t Olofsgatan in Uppsala. This has occurred both at night and during the day.

Charlii Enström, a project manager at Trafikverket, states that fences have been broken down and that trespassing can be life-threatening because the site is not designed for people to be there, with sharp and pointed objects present. No accidents have occurred yet. The project is estimated to be completed in the spring of 2027.
