The Toronto Maple Leafs have fired general manager Brad Treliving. The decision was announced ahead of a game against the Anaheim Ducks. Club president and CEO Keith Pelley said in a statement that the organization needs to take a new direction under different leadership.
Treliving had been with the Maple Leafs for nearly three seasons, during which the team had a record of 132-92-27, including a division title in the 2024/25 season and a playoff series win against the Ottawa Senators that same year. However, the Maple Leafs are reportedly set to miss the playoffs for the first time in ten years, with the team 13 points out of a wildcard spot and a record of 31-31-13 this season. The future of coach Craig Berube is unclear.
The organization needs to take a new direction under different leadership.
Swedish players on the team include William Nylander, Oliver Ekman Larsson, and Calle Järnkrok.
