  • Charlie Woods has struggled in recent junior golf tournaments but committed to Florida State University.
  • Justin Thomas joked about Charlie Woods and offered mentorship, while Tiger Woods recovers from injuries and plans future golf involvement.

Tiger Woods was detained on March 27 after flipping his SUV while attempting to overtake a truck and trailer at high speed in Jupiter Island, Florida. He has been charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Woods pleaded not guilty to the charges and is slated to appear in court on May 5.

He admitted to taking 'a few pills' and was found with two white tablets identified as the opioid hydrocodone, and he blew a clear breathalyzer test but refused to give a urine sample. Florida state prosecutors filed a notice in court on April 7 to get a subpoena for Tiger Woods' medication records dating back to January 1. Woods' attorney, Douglas Duncan, objected to the subpoena and requested a hearing to determine if the prescription records are relevant.

I wanna be if he wants me to be. I was very lucky to have some people like that in my life and I know how helpful that was… I wanna help in any way I can.

Meanwhile, Charlie Woods, Tiger's son, has faced challenges in junior golf, finishing dead last at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in South Carolina, where he was 26-over par after four rounds. He is ranked 53rd in the boys junior golf rankings and fell to 57th out of 72 at the Terra Cotta Invitational after shooting 79 and 71 in rounds one and two. Despite these performances, Charlie Woods committed to play college golf at Florida State University as part of the 2027 recruiting class.

In other news, Justin Thomas joked about Charlie Woods, with Thomas calling him a 'little punk' in a joking manner. Justin Thomas said he would love to become a big-brother-type figure for Charlie if Charlie wants him to be. Tiger Woods, recovering from a seventh back surgery in October 2024 and a torn Achilles sustained in March 2024, hinted he could be playing at the Masters tournament in April 2025.

He’s grown up a lot. He’s still a little punk but not a total punk kid. He can beat me up so I can’t say too much.

Woods is also considering whether to lead the USA as Ryder Cup captain at the 2026 event in Ireland.

Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University — go Noles!

There is.

I'm trying, put it that way. The disc replacement has been one thing. I've had a fused back and now a disc replacement, so it's challenging. And now I entered a new decade, so that number is starting to sink in.

Yeah, they have asked me for my input on it, and I haven't made my decision yet. I'm trying to figure out what we're trying to do with our tour. That's been driving me hours upon hours every day and trying to figure out if I can actually do our team, our Team USA, and our players and everyone that's going to be involved in the Ryder Cup, if I can do it justice with my time.

The defense objects to the issuance of a subpoena and requests the court to conduct a hearing to determine if the prescription records are relevant to the criminal investigation.
