The Tidö parties announced on Friday a billion-dollar investment in double tracks along the Ostkustbanan, despite a setback last autumn. The project aims to improve railway standards for commuters and businesses along the Norrland coast. Jörgen Berglund, a Moderate Party MP, said at a press conference that hard-working people and companies along the Norrland coast deserve a railway that meets the standards.
The exact amount of the investment and the timeline for construction have not been disclosed. It also remains unclear which specific sections of the Ostkustbanan will be upgraded first.
